• Paulinerkirche - the Historical University Library houses a variety of shows and exhibitions about the local area, normally of a historical nature.

Historic monuments in Göttingen

• Altes Rathaus - was the town hall until 1978, and it now houses the Tourist Office.  
• Half-timbered houses - the city was not bombed during the war and for this reason it still has many old wooden house from the 16th and 17th centuries still standing in remarkably good conditions.  
• Gänseliesel - the fountain outside the Town Hall is Göttingen's most famous figure known as the most kissed girl in the world, as all local students kiss her after graduating.  
• Synagogue Memorial - This memorial stands on the site of a synagogue that was destroyed in 1938, and the names of Jewish residents who were murdered during the "dark time" are listed below an abstraction of the Star of David.

• There are many shops in Göttingen and also a town market every Tuesday. Each year there are various Christmas markets held throughout the town.
