Historic monuments in Venice

• Piazza San Marco (San Marco’s Square). The Bride of the Sights, this is one of the most popular tourist sights in Venice. The Rialto Bridge, permanent connection between the two banks of the Grand Canal. Basilica of San Marco, built in 829 to contain the remains of Saint Mark. The Venice Ghetto was the first to be set up in Europe and was founded in 1516.

• 1_Brenta Riviera: A pretty place full of artistic and cultural interest. The most famous architects and painters of the period were hired to create what was to become the symbol of the aristocratic families grandeur and wealth: the Venetian Villas.
• 2_Padua: It is called the “City of the Saint” for its Basilica of Saint Anthony, Padua is mainly a city of art, boasting, among its many treasures, the fabulous Scrovegni Chapel.
• 3_Treviso: Treviso was for centuries an important part of the Republic of Venice; the “garden of Venice”. Treviso mixes the charm of its natural sceneries and its precious historical architectonic contexts with a strong industrial and tertiary sector growth, making it one of the most competitive economic areas of Italy.
• 4_Verona: Verona is a city characterised by more than two thousand years of history and was probably an Etruscan and Euganean centre. You can find magnificent traces from the Roman Empire.
• 5_Garda Lake: Lake Garda is blessed with more than 45 km of free beaches in some of the most evocative and celebrated sceneries of the whole of Europe, including medieval towns, historical villas and ancient castles. It is enriched by its green hinterland with pastures and vineyards which produce wines known throughout the world such as Custoza and Bardolino.

• 1_Murano: The island of Murano became famous in 1291, the year in which the glass production was transferred here from the old city centre due to fear of fires in the kilns.
• 2_Burano: Burano is one of the prettiest islands in the lagoon: it is a miniature Venice where all the houses are painted in bright colours. Burano is famous for its lace work, an art carried out since the sixteenth century and which is famous worldwide.
• 3_Torcello: Torcello is an extremely romantic and charming place. Venetians love to go there once in a while as they are attracted by its calm and the greenness of the island. Unlike Murano and Burano, Torcello is practically uninhabited and still has a lot of archeological proof of its glorious past.
• 4_Pellestrina: Pellestrina is a small island, home to fishing villages, lacemakers and the Murazzi, the seawalls of Istrian stone that protected the lagoon from the Adriatic’s swell from 1782 until the horrific floods of 1966.
• 5_Skiing: Dolomite Mountains.
