• 1_San Juan de Ulua: Simply known as “The Fort,” one of the most impressive and historically significant structures of the city is the huge imposing stone fort built on a small island at the entrance to the inner harbour. Spanish conquistadors built the fort in the 1500s, it was used to protect the port against marauding pirates and was used in the 19th century as a prison.
• 2_Tajin: The most famous archaelogical site near Veracruz is called “El Tajin”, a very large site famous for a pyramid called the “Pyramid of Niches”. There are daily tour buses going to El Tajin from bigger downtown hotels.
• 3_Carnival: February is the month of festivities in Veracruz, the location of the second most famous carnival in Latin America, after the Brazilian event. Events include the crowning of the Child King, the King of Joy, the Carnival Queen, as well as parades with dancing, people dressed in disguises and music along Boulevard Manuel Ávila Camacho.
• 4_Zempoala: Its name comes from the Náhuatl language and means “Twenty Waters” because it is surrounded by the rivers of the region, it is one also of the most important archeological sites in the state. It consists of various buildings that still radiate an imposing beauty today (the Major Temple, the temple of the Chimneys, the Gladiator Circle, the Temple of the Faces, Temple of the Wind God and the Temple of the Cross). It is located 43 km from the Port of Veracruz heading north.

• 1_Aquarium: One of the most impressive sites is the Veracruz Aquarium. In it you can submerge yourself in a different world, giving you the opportunity to see how marine life exists, without even getting your feet wet. From the entrance you can see an ecological path surrounded by turtles and toucans, followed by fresh water galleries where you can see a wide variety of fish species such as piranhas, Japanese fish and other beautiful tropical specimens.
• 2_Diving: Nature blessed Veracruz with a huge coral reef system formed by 23 islands a few minutes boat ride from the port of Boca Del Río and Antón Lizardo. This coral reef system is a nursery and refuge of commercial species. The abundance and beauty of the multi-coloured fish in harmony with the coral, make these areas places of spiritual solace as well as of sporting pleasure.
