Traditions and the Sea
Alicante's location sealed its fate as a city reflecting many cultures. The narrow streets of Alicante's Historic Quarter with their undeniable Muslim influence will transport you back in time. Ancient structures rise up over the streets, including the City Hall, the Concatedral de San Nicolás de Bari, the Basilica of Saint Mary and enchanting townhouses with their flower-filled balconies. In the distance, atop Mount Benacantil, the imposing Castle of Santa Bárbara has kept watch over Alicante City Centre for centuries.
The interplay of the sea and the city defines Alicante. With its fifteen kilometres of coastline, you will find a diverse collection of beaches, including Postiguet Beach at the very heart of the city, the tranquil Playa del Saladar to the south and the boisterous San Juan Beach.
Alicante's excellent climate makes it easy for you to head out and sample the city's local cuisine, from rice to seafood dishes. At night, the city really comes alive. "El Barrio" will lure you in with the variety of its offerings, from typical Alicante-style taverns, to sophisticated restaurants and inviting sidewalk cafés where music reigns supreme. The Port, with pubs and discotheques that open until dawn, offers a more youthful, adventurous feel. Alicante in Celebration
Alicante also stands for tradition. In its mass festival of the Bonfires of Saint John, ancient rituals are revived, setting fire to true works of art and raising the bar on pyrotechnics each and every year.
NH invites you to enjoy a wonderful stay at its two hotels in Alicante, perfectly located in Alicante's Commercial District and in the immediate vicinity of the Méndez Núñez Promenade and Spain's Esplanade.
