• 3_The silver route: The silver route was the most important transportation routes in western Hispania of the Romans. It connected the city of Emérita Augusta (Mérida) with Astorga. From Astorga it leads into Galicia to Santiago or Via León, making its way to the Cantabrian Sea. From Mérida it penetrated Andalusia to Seville. Later, it was called the Mozarab Road and was used by Christians living in Muslim territory to journey to the pilgrimage site of Santiago de Compostela.
