• Archaeological Museum (open weekdays 10 AM to 1 PM and 4.45 to 7.15 PM). Puerta de Santa María. Built in 16th Century is the most representative Gate of the City and contains a medieval museum. CAB Modern Art. Human Evolution (under construction).

• The “Danza de los Palos” takes place in Fuentelcésped on 13th of June. Corpus Christi: In the Monastery of “Las Huelgas”. There are various religious processions during Easter Week, specially on Good Friday.

Historic monuments in Burgos

• Monasterio de las Huelgas: Founded in the 1180s by king Alfonso VIII, and was begun in a pre-Gothic style, although almost every style has been introduced over many additions.  
• Cartuja de Miraflores: Situated about four kilometres from the historic city center and has a number of treasures which include the wooden statue of St Bruno; the wooden choir stalls in the church and the mausoleum of King John II and of his wife Isabel.  
• Gothic Cathedral: Started in 1221, construction spanned mainly from the 13th to 15th centuries, the west front is flanked by towers terminating in octagonal spires covered with open stonework traceries; it has also been declared a World Heritage Site.  
• La Casa del Cordón: This palace is an outstanding example of civil architecture in Burgos.  
• Iglesia de San Esteban: A 13th century gothic church, close to the Iglesia de San Esteban is the “Arco de San Cartuja de Miraflores (open daily 10.15 to 15:00 and 16:00 to 18:00.

• 1_Atapuerca: It is an archaeological site located near Burgos. The importance of the site, and the fossils found here, have resulted in it being appointed an UNESCO Heritage of Mankind site.
• 2_Monasterio de Silos: The monastery dates from 7th Century and was finally finished in 11th Century. Both Romanesque and neoclassical styles are harmoniously represented in the Monastery. The cloister should not be missed by visitors.
• 3_Covarrubias: Covarrubias owes its name to the reddish caves on the outskirts of this medieval village. The remains of the old city walls and several important churches and monuments are located in the centre. It is a wonderful example of typical Castilian urban layout with arcaded streets and wooden structured houses.
• 4_Frías: The origins of Frías date back to the 9th century, when Alfonso VIII repopulated the valley to protect the border between Castile and Navarre. The historic quarter still preserves its medieval atmosphere and urban layout.

• 1_Camino de Santiago: The Pilgrimage Route to Santiago de Compostela passes through the Burgos region. As there is an impressive historical heritage in the region, the Route has been rightly awarded the UNESCO Heritage of Mankind status.
• 2_Lerma: A hilltop city with a very well kept historical centre. Lerma has its roots in the 17th Century and the parador is situated in the historical Ducal Palace.
• 3_Salamanca: 230 km away from Burgos, famous for the University and the cultural importance of the Spanish language origins. University atmosphere and lively nightlife.
• 4_Vitoria-Gasteiz: 115 km away from Burgos. A large part of the cultural heritage of the historical territory of Álava is to be found in its capital city. This heritage, dating from both the distant past and this century, makes Vitoria-Gasteiz a fascinating place for visitors, as both an historical and modern city.
