• Fiesta del Queso - A festival extolling the virtues of local cheeses in the town of Arzua. Romeria del Santo Cristo - This event takes place at "Fisterra" (Finisterre) on the hills above the town and involves an historical re-enactment. Semana Santa - A Procession in the city of Ferrol, which involves the carrying of a casket (coffin) with a statue of Jesus and the cross atop it and various people dressed up in traditional clothing. Hogueras de San Juan - This is a night time fiesta that occurs over two days, the 23 and 24 of June, large numbers of people head for the beach (Riazor) where they light lots of fires and barbeque sardines and other seafood. Mundo Celta - Held in Ortiqueira, this festival has a bagpipe procession and lots of traditional Celtic style dress. Pimientos de Padron - This is a significant gastronomic festival that takes place in the town of Padron and celebrates small chilli peppers that originate from there and are famous throughout Spain. Fiesta Patronales de San Roque - A re-enactment of some kind that includes events on the water and land and takes place separately at both Betanzos and Sada. Fiesta de San Bartolomeu - This is a six day long event that happens in the town of Noia and comprises numerous events, some traditional and some more modern which include performances of bagpipe playing and dancing in the towns old Tapal plaza, modern music concerts, games and food.

• 1_Santiago de Compostela: 60 Km away from La Coruña, the city is easily visited within a day. It houses the 9th century Cathedral of Santiago – a worldwide pilgrimage destination.
• 2_Betanzos and Las Mariñas: Betanzos is a 9th Century village in an extremely beautiful area. In the middle ages it belonged to one family whose legacy is many churches, bridges and castles.
• 3_Rías Baixas (low esturies): One of the most visited areas in Galicia. Its selfish and Albariño wine are much appreciated by visitors. Visits to La Toja island and the villages of Sanxenxo and Combarro are well worthwhile.
• 4_Costa da Morte (the coast of death): This name is due to the amount of sailors who died in ship wrecks along this coast. Spectacular scenery and typical fishing villages like Finisterre (end of the Earth) situated in the extreme north west of Spain.
• 5_Rías Altas (high esturies): An area of incredible beauty. Visit the village of San Andrés de Teixido, an important destination for pilgrims; Vixia Herbeira, one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe (over 600 metres high) and Estaca de Bares, the northern most point of the Iberian peninsula.
