Museums in Toledo

• Taller del Moro Museum – has examples of work from the artisan who once worked on the construction of the cathedral. The museum is also known for its 14th century Mudéjar ceramics. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 10.00 to 14.00 and 16.00 to 18.30.  
• Museo Sefardi (Sephardic Museum) – this museum demonstrates Jewish culture in Spain with its exhibits of medieval scrolls, vestments and tombs. During traditional Jewish holidays various events take place here, such as the Purim (Festival of Lots), Pesach (Passover), Sukkot (Feast of Booths / Tabernacles) and Hanukkah (Festival of Lights). Open: Tuesday to Saturday, 10.00 to 14.00 and 16:00 to 18:00. 

Exhibitions / Art galeries Toledo

• Museum of Contemporary Art – this museum has a collection of modern Spanish Art, including work from Joan Miró and Aureliano de Beruete, as well as a large amount of figurative art from the 20th century. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 10.00 to 14.00 and 16.00 to 18.30, and Sunday 10.00 to 14.00.  
• Holy Cross Museum – in the beginning this museum was originally a hospital, but now it holds a collection of art and religious pieces including tapestries. Open Monday 10.00 and 16.00 to 18.30, Tuesday to Saturday 10.00 to 18.30, and Sunday 10.00 to 14.00. 

Cultural activities in Toledo

• Olives Festival – this is one of the best known and most interesting festivities in the area, held on the last Sunday of April in Mora de Toledo. The Olive queen is crowned and welcomed during a parade with local music and dancing, and locals also give thanks to the local food at a special mass held, where the fruits of the olive tree are blessed.  
• Corpus Christi – celebrated on the Sunday of the ninth week after Holy week, there is a procession with the 16th century gold monstrance from the cathedral, and knights dressed in their respective colours. Houses are adorned with antique fabrics and rose petals and herbs are scattered on the floor.  

Historic monuments in Toledo

• The Old Bisagra Gate – this gate was the main entrance to the city, and according to tradition the King entered through this gate when he reconquered the city in 1085. It had been continuously preserved after a new gate (The New Bisagra Gate) was built in the 16th century.  
• The Sun Gate – this gate was built as an entrance to the city in the 14th century, and the name comes from the sun and the moon that were originally painted on a medallion above the arch.  
• San Martin Bridge – this bridge was built in the 14th century to provide access from the old town to the west. Both sides of the bridge were heavily fortified with towers, the most recent being constructed in the 16th century. 

Shopping in Toledo

• Tourists looking for local souvenirs can find Toledo Marzipan, ceramics and damascene decoration on various items, especially along Calle del Comercio, the most popular street in the city for tourist shopping.
