Historic monuments in Valencia

• City of Arts and Sciences - Located where the old river Turia used to flow and visitors will find a Science Museum, a Planetarium, an IMAX cinema, an Aquarium and the Arts Museum.  
• The Barri del Carme neighborhood - In the old center, the perfect place for a stroll with many outdoor cafes, trendy shops and interesting people.  
• The Seu- A curious cathedral with doors from three distinct architectural periods, there is also the Micalet tower from which visitors can get a great view of the surrounding city.  
• La Llotja - This building is the site of the ancient local silk trade, which is also a UNESCO landmark and has recently been refurbished.  
• The Mercat Central- Located in an aging "modernist" building in the process of being renovated, shop for food and buy some fantastic fresh produce, meat, or olives.  
• Torres de Quart - this pock-marked medieval tower was part of the ancient wall that surrounded the old city.  
• Torres de Serrano - Part of ancient walls, but have been massively renovated and somewhat modernized, but they are still interesting

• Las Fallas - A major part of the fiesta are the incredibly impressive figurines depicting satirical scenes of everyday life erected at 350 parks and key parts of the city, along with a wide range of other attractions including parades, paella cooking competitions, bullfights, beauty pageants, concerts, and lots of fireworks; the last day of the Las Fallas fiesta sees the ritual burning of the figurines together with huge firework displays and intense celebration; Mid March. La Tomatina - Although not in Valencia itself the village of Bunol where it is held is easily commutable, on the day of the fiesta between 11am-1pm around 30,000 revellers hurl some 240,000 pounds of over ripe tomatoes at each other; Once the fight is over the best place for people to head is usually the river to wash off; last week of August.

• 1_Alcoy route: Sierra Mariola Nature Park and Font Roja. Visit the sanctuary at Font Roja. Magnificent place at a height of 1,020 metres above sea level, plenty of vegetation and history to learn about Alcoy, Mountain high tourist spot. Head towards Alicante, N340. It is near Játiva, Ontinyent and the Muro de Alcoy.
• 2_Requena route: Plana de Requena - Utiel. This area of the Valencian region has amazing countryside full of vineyards. Requena and Utiel are well known for their outstanding wines. Visit Bodegas Dominio de la Vega wineries.
• 3_Sagunto route: North of Valencia heading towards Castellón. Visit the Roman theatre which was the first archaeological site in Spain to be declared a National Monument along with the Roman Circus Gate. This monument preserves one of the portals to the Roman Circus, located in Calle de los Huertos. It is made up of enormous smooth cut masonry and has been dated back to the 2nd and 3rd centuries of our time.
• 4_Albufera: One of the greatest treasures that the Valencian people have. The park was declared a Nature Reserve back in 1986. The park along with its amazing lake is a home for many animals and plants.

• 2_Historical Valencia: Visit focused on the historical city centre and the most outstanding monuments: North Station, Serranos and Quart Towers, Central Market, Lonja (Old Silk Exchange). Round Square, Cathedral, Virgin Square and the outside of the Basílica and the Generalitat Palace.
• 3_City of Arts and Sciences: Visit the new landmark of the city, a stateof- the-art architectural and entertainment complex designed by Santiago Calatrava and located on the old riverbed with different areas such as the Hemisfèric building conceived as a large human eye where IMAX movies, planetarium and laser shows are shown. Science Museum: huge interactive museum and Umbráculo: palm-tree garden covered by a big iron structure in the form of a monumental access portico that simulates a pergola.
• 4_ Oceanographic Park: Visit Europe’s largest marine park where the most important ecosystems and fauna of the planet are represented. This visit allows the visitors to get a closer view of the marine world and learn about the biodiversity and fragility of the following ecosystems: Mediterranean Sea, Wetlands, Temperate Seas, Tropical Seas, Patagonia Islands, Artic, Antartic and the Oceans. You will also have the chance to enjoy a dolphin show (depending on the time of the visit).
• 5_Valencia by night: Evening panoramic visit of the city’s most outstanding buildings: Bullring, North Station, City Hall, Lonja (Old Silk Exchange), Central Market, Serranos and Quart Towers, and the impressive City of Arts and Sciences with a short walk along the Umbráculo.
